Fortuna's role in the games.

Starfox1993

The planet made its first appearance in Star Fox for the SNES. It is ruled by brutal creatures such as sea serpents, giant dragonflies and avians, which were tamed by Andross in a plan to turn them into living weapons. Monarch Dodora is one of these prized creatures, with powers exceeding state-of-the-art weaponry. Unlike most other areas, this planet does not return in Star Fox 64.

Planet V: Fortuna

Fortuna is also known as the Dinosaur Planet and is prowled by untamed and brutal creatures. Andross has fed and gained control of these brutes and plans the turn them into living weapons. The giant dragon, Monarch Dodora, is the living spirit of this planet and has powers exceeding state-of-the-art weapons. His name is feared throughout the Lylat system.

Mission Start

At first, Fox must fly through the middle of the huge space battle between the Cornerian fleet and Oikonny's army in search of Oikonny's flagship, taking down fighters, battleships, combat space suits and stealth squadrons before finding the flagship.

S.O.S: At the Mission start, Slippy will be chased by a Venomian Fighter just after dialogue from Falco triggers the chase.

Mission Update

Entering the planet's atmosphere, Fox must then fly through the jungles and space base in search of the flagship, taking down fighters and combat mech, before finally catching up with Oikonny.

S.O.S: Just after passing the stone arches and nearing the waterfalls and jungle, Falco will be chased by three Fighters in an identical manner seen in Star Fox 64, including boost tips provided by Peppy. Saving Falco will cause him to drop a Smart Bomb near the trains leading into the base later.

Boss: Oikonny's flagship

OikonnyAndross1

Oikonny's Flagship.

The flagship transforms into what Falco calls an: "Andross wanna-be", which is exactly true since the battle is almost identical to previous battles against Andross. Using robotic fists, Oikonny will attempt to punch, slap and swipe the Arwing, however when the power orbs on his hands are exposed, they are vulnerable to attack. The battle will end when both fists are downed.

Boss: Aparoid

Fortuna Aparoid

The Aparoid on Fortuna.

The orbs on the Aparoid's wings are vulnerable to attack, but will generate ring lasers until they are all downed. The Aparoid will then send a tail laser beam blazing on the groud, shaking up flying chunks of rock to fly into sky in the Arwing's way, but it's mouth is open to attack if aimed perfectly. The Aparoid will then open it's mouth back on the surface and fire homing lasers, leaving it open for attack. The entire second phase is repeated until the Aparoid is downed.

Aftermath

The ending revealed that the only parts damaged by the Aparoid invasion were the northern forests, and that the Lylat System would send relief efforts from the base that they captured from the remnants of Andross. Oikonny's forces were also revealed to have been destroyed, and the Aparoids were expunged. The Destruction level on Fortuna was a C+.

Vehicle: Arwing, Walker

Type: Corridor Mode / All-Range Mode

Boss: Monarch Dodora

In Star Fox Zero, Fortuna appears as the ninth stage in the main game, It can be unlocked if you defeat Star Wolf before Peppy is shot down to Titania. The stage can also be available by using the warp on Titania, and completing the alternate Salvadora mission.

After hearing reports of a bioweapon on the planet, Star Fox went to investigate and destroy it. Upon arrival on the surface, they meet Katt once again, who helps them navigate through the jungle. The bioweapon begins to attack the group, so they fly through a cave to evade it. Once out, they see it tearing trees off the ground, causing them to fly towards the four. Soon after, a battle with the bioweapon: Monarch Dodora, begins. Once Star Fox destroys all of its weak points, the bioweapon explodes, and the mission is over.

Alternately, once the player has made enough progress through the game, Wolf will appear in one part of the stage. If the player targets him, the player is taken to an alternate mission: Hunter.

In Star Fox 2, the action took place in an icy ocean. The boss, like all of the Star Fox 2 bosses, would have been a giant reactor.

Trivia

  • Fichina was mistakenly called Fortuna in the English translation of Star Fox 64. In Star Fox: Assault, the planet's name is translated as Fichina, and it is correctly identified as a separate planet from Fortuna. This error was fixed in the 3DS remake.
  • Fortuna appears to have a moon in Star Fox, but it is not visible from space.
