Aspects from the Star Fox series have made their way into other games over the years.
On the Night Cruise stage, crash into all 5 signs labeled StarFox. After ramming all 5, an Arwing will fly overhead and drop a powerup.
Fox appears as a Playable Character with a stage based on Sector Z and takes place on top of the Great Fox. The Arwing appears as Fox's entrance, while more Arwings appear in the Sector Z stage, which swoop down and fire lasers.. Sometimes the Wolfen and Copperhead missile appear in the background which swoop down and fire lasers.
There are five masks which represent animal faces, and they are to remind of five Starfox characters. Moreover, in the inventory, those masks are aligned in that order : Keaton mask, Bremen Mask, Bunny Hood, Don Gero's Mask and Mask of Scents, respectively Fox Mccloud, Falco Lombardi, Peppy Hare, Slippy Toad, and Pigma Dengar.
Fox returns as a playable character and with two stages: Corneria and Venom, both atop the Great Fox. Corneria's stage is a side view, and Venom, a frontal view. Both stages possess Arwing and Wolfen which swoop down and fire lasers. On Corneria, the two fighters can be used as platforms, but fly off screen after several seconds. Falco and also appears as an unlockable Character.
An Arwing may be obtained by entering a special code into Tom Nook's gift system. It is one of the most expensive items in the game, selling for 25,000 Bells at Nook's store.
- James McCloud, a returning character from F-Zero X on the Nintendo 64, bears the same name as Fox's father, and has a similar appearance to said character (despite being human). He is part of a group called "Galaxy Dogs," a parody of the name "Star Fox." McCloud's biography in F-Zero also notes him having a wife and a young son.
- Another character, Leon, is not only named for the Star Wolf member of the same name, but also resembles Star Wolf's leader, Wolf O'Donnell.
Fox, Falco, and Wolf are playable and there is a new stage taking place on a ship (the stage is called the Lylat Cruise) above Corneria and in an Asteroid Belt. The Corneria stage from Melee is also available. Other characters and objects from the Starfox series of games also have cameos as unlockable trophies and in a easter egg.
