BowserEdit

Bowser is the King of the Koopas from the Super Mario franchise. He is a long-time villain of the series and thus arch-enemy of Mario. He makes an appearance in both Melee and Brawl as a default playable character.

Captain FalconEdit

Captain Douglas Jay Falcon is the main playable racer from the Nintendo's futuristic F-Zero series. He is not only athletic, but a skilled F-Zero racer and a bounty hunter too. He is an unlockable playable character in every Smash Bros. installation to date, with the exception of Melee where he is availble by default.

Crazy HandEdit

Crazy Hand is a boss and Master Hand's left hand counterpart making an appearance in Melee and Brawl. To fight him in Melee, the player has to clear normal level classic mode under eighteen minutes and reduce Master Hand's health by half or play event 50: final destination match. In Brawl he can be fought against by playing the boss battle mode or by arriving at the final stage under nine minutes with hard or above difficulty to fight him in classic mode.

Crazy Hand is exactly like Master Hand, apart from being a left hand. The array of attacks he possesses and his general essence are just much more impulsive and chaotic. When fighting in unison with Master Hand, they perform many kinds of cooperative attacks.

Diddy KongEdit

Diddy Kong is a main character from the Donkey Kong series. He is Donkey Kong's nephew and best friend. He also has a girlfriend called Dixie Kong. He is a default playable character in Brawl.

Donkey KongEdit

Donkey Kong is the protagonist from the Donkey Kong series. He has also acted both an antagonist and a protagonist in various Mario titles. He is Diddy Kong's uncle. He is a default playable character in every Smash Bros. game to date.

Dr. MarioEdit

Dr. Mario is a doctor-costumed character clone of Mario. He spends day and night in his laboratory working on new miracle cures. He is an unlockable playable character only in Melee (but returns only as a collectable trophy in Brawl).

Falco LombardiEdit

Falco Lombardi is a major character from the Star Fox series. He is a member of the Star Fox Team, along with Fox McCloud, Slippy Toad and Peppy Hare. While extremely arrogant, he is an excellent pilot. He is an unlockable playable character in Melee as a Fox clone, but also appears in Brawl as a less clonish character.

Fox McCloudEdit

Fox McCloud is the leader of the Star Fox Team and the protagonist of the Star Fox series. Fox is a considerable pilot and has saved the galaxy more than once. He is a default playable character in all three Smash Bros. games.

GanondorfEdit

Ganondorf is the main antagonist from The Legend of Zelda series. He is Link's nemesis in numerous Zelda games and he is the holder of the Triforce of Power. Ganondorf is an unlockable playable character in both Melee and Brawl. Though in Melee, he is a clone of Captain Falcon.

Ice ClimbersEdit

The Ice Climbers are a pair of protagonists from the Ice Climber Nintendo Entertainment System game. These two have scaled many ice summits in their mountaineering careers. They are playable by default in both Melee and Brawl.

IkeEdit

Ike appears as the main playable hero in the ninth and tenth game of the Fire Emblem series. He's a man of few words and seems often uncaring, but is actually very passionate. He is a default playable character in Super Smash Bros. Brawl.

JigglypuffEdit

Jigglypuff is the number 39 first generation normal type Pokémon from the Pokémon series who appears as a playable character throughout the Smash Bros. series. It uses attacks that require excellent timing and is the only playable character that can put others to sleep. It also has the strongest non-chargable attack in the series, called rest, although it goes to sleep for a short time after use and the move is almost impossible to connect with.

King DededeEdit

King Dedede is an antagonist from the Kirby series. He is the self proclaimed penguin like ruler of Dreamland. His trademark combat style is using a giant wooden hammer. He shares some of his powers with Kirby, but cannot copy his foe's abilities. He was cut from the original due to technical restraints but appears occassionally in the Dreamland stage background. King Dedede also appears as a trophy in Melee before finally making his debut as a default playable character in Brawl.

KirbyEdit

Kirby is the main character of the Kirby series. Kirby is a small pink gumdrop like creature who hails from the kingdom of Dreamland on the distant planet Popstar. He has the ability to absorb the powers of his enemies by inhaling them. He is a default playable in every Smash Bros. game to date.

LinkEdit

Link is the protagonist of The Legend of Zelda series. Link is the wielder of the Master Sword and the holder of the Triforce of Courage. He is a playable character in all three Smash Bros. games.

LucarioEdit

Lucario is the number 448 fourth generation fighting and steel type Pokémon from the Pokémon series who appears as a playable in Brawl. He uses attacks that are backed by aura, a life force that can be described in a similar way to chi. Lucario happens to share few similarities to Mewtwo from Melee.

LucasEdit

Lucas is a character from the Mother series. He is very kind and can communicate with animals, but is also shy. He has a twin brother, whose name is Claus. He uses his PSI powers for fighting. He is a default playable character in Brawl.

LuigiEdit

Luigi is a major character from the Mario series. He is Mario's younger brother and is often overshadowed by him. He's shy, quiet and a bit cowardly, but he's actually quite talented; his jumping ability actually surpasses Mario's. He appears as an unlockable playable character in every Smash Bros. game to date (in fact he is the only unlockable character in all three titles along with Jigglypuff).

MarioEdit

Mario is the protagonist from the Mario series, but also appears in many other Nintendo's games, making him a racer, a doctor and a golfer. His arch-enemy is the evil Bowser, who tends to kidnap Princess Peach all the time. He appears as a default playable character in all three Smash Bros. games.

MarthEdit

Marth is the main playable hero in the first, third and eleventh Fire Emblem games. As well as a magnificent swordsman, Marth is also the prince of Altea, which was invaded by Dolua. Marth appears in both Melee and Brawl as an unlockable playable character.

Master HandEdit

Master Hand is a boss and Crazy Hand's right counterpart appearing in every game of the Smash Bros. series to date. He is the creator of the Smash Bros. universe. In Super Smash Bros., he is the final boss of the single player game, and in both Melee and Brawl he is the final boss of the classic mode. In Brawl he can also be encountered in the boss battle mode.

Master Hand fights by punches, slaps, rams, grabs and some other, more strange moves, like lasers and missiles. When fighting in unison with Crazy Hand, they perform many kinds of devastating cooperative attacks. The reason that you can't fight Master Hand in the adventure mode of Brawl is because Tabuu kills him.

His fighting style is very similar to that of Andross when fought in Star Fox 64 and Star Fox Adventures.

Meta KnightEdit

Meta Knight is both a villain and a hero from the Kirby series. He wields the strongest sword in Dreamland, Galaxia, and is the leader of the Meta-Knights, an army of soldiers. He also owns a dreadnaught class battleship called the Halberd which resembles his physical apperance. He appears as a trophy in Melee before finally becoming a playable character in Brawl.

MewtwoEdit

Mewtwo is the number 150 first generation psychic type Pokémon from the Pokémon series. It was created by genetic manipulations of Mew's DNA in order to create the most powerful Pokémon in existence. Unlike Mew, Mewtwo makes ruthless and incompassionate use of its psychic abilities in battle. It appears as a playable character in Melee, but does not return in Brawl. He is said to be more or less replaced by Lucario.

Mr. Game & WatchEdit

Mr. Game & Watch is a character from Superflat World from Nintendo's Game & Watch series. He is completely two dimensional, and thus moves only in different frames. He appears in both Melee and Brawl as a playable character.

NessEdit

Ness is a character from the Mother series. He is courageous, and among other weapons, Ness wields slingshots, yo-yos, and his signature baseball bat. He also uses his PSI powers for fighting. He is an unlockable playable character in all three Super Smash Bros. games to date except for Melee where he is playable by default.

PichuEdit

Pichu is a Pokemon who evolves into Pikachu, he's only playable in Super Smash Bros Melee.

PikachuEdit

Pikachu is the number 25, electric mouse Pokemon. Appears in all Super Smash Bros games to date. He is often the main Pokemon character in the Pokemon games, mangas, trading cards and TV shows. He his a default playable character in all three titles to date.

Pikmin and Captain OlimarEdit

Captain Olimar is the center character in Pikmin and Pikmin 2. Appearing only as trophies in Super Smash Bros Melee, Olimar and the Pikmin make their debut in Super Smash Bros Brawl. Like his own games, his fighting strategy is revolved around the organisation of the Pikmin. All five Pikmin from the first two games appear at Olimar's side. Olimar can pluck, throw, whistle and chain lasso up to six Pikmin at a time.

PitEdit

Pit is an angel and the protagonist from the Kid Icarus series. He is the captain of the goddess Palutena's royal bodyguards. He is a collectable trophy in Melee before becoming a playable character in Brawl.

Pokémon TrainerEdit

Pokémon Trainer is a character from the Pokémon series. Rather than battling himself, the Pokémon Trainer controls his three Pokémon, which do the fighting for him, while he shouts commands. He and his Pokémon appear as a playable character in Brawl.

CharizardEdit

Charizard is the number six first generation fire type Pokémon from the Pokémon series. It is playable as one of the three Pokémon Trainer's Pokémon. Charizard is evolved from Charmeleon, which again evolves from Charmander.

IvysaurEdit

Ivysaur is the number two first generation grass type Pokémon from the Pokémon series. It is playable as one of the three Pokémon Trainer's Pokémon. Ivysaur is the evolved form of Bulbasaur. It evolves into Venusaur.

SquirtleEdit

Squirtle is the number seven first generation water type Pokémon from the Pokémon series. It is playable as one of the three Pokémon Trainer's Pokémon. Squirtle evolves first into Wartortle and then into Blastoise.

Princess PeachEdit

Princess Peach, Princess Toadstool, or just Peach, is a character from the Super Mario series. She is usually Mario's damsel in distress. She is playable in both Melee and Brawl.

Princess ZeldaEdit

Princess Zelda is a character from The Legend of Zelda series, to which she has given her name. She is Link's usual love interest. Zelda has a disguise, called Sheik, and swapping between the two works as a special move for both characters. Zelda is the holder of the Triforce of Wisdom. She is playable in both Melee and Brawl.

R.O.B.Edit

Based off of a version of the Nintendo Entertainment System disguised as a toy robot for sale in toy stores, Robotic Operating Buddy, or R.O.B. for short, is a playable character in Brawl. He fights mainly by using the Robo Beam and Robo Gyro, the later being based on Gyromite, a game that was sold separately from the main unit along with two gyroscope shaped controllers.

RoyEdit

Roy is the main playable character in the sixth Fire Emblem game. His class is lord, and he uses swords as his main weapons. He appeared as a playable character in Melee as a clone of Marth, but failed to return in Brawl.

Samus AranEdit

Samus Aran is the protagonist of the Metroid series. Samus is a famous bounty hunter, who's constantly helping the Galactic Federation in their fight against the Space Pirates and other threats. She is a default playable character in all three Super Smash Bros. games to date.

SheikEdit

Sheik is a character from the The Legend of Zelda series. He is actually Princess Zelda's disguise, and swapping between the two works as a special move for both characters. He is playable in both Melee and Brawl.

Solid SnakeEdit

Solid Snake is the main protagonist from the Metal Gear series. He was created by Kojima Productions, formerly Konami Computer Entertainment Japan, and is thus considered a third-party character. He is playable in Brawl.

Sonic the HedgehogEdit

Sonic the Hedgehog is the main protagonist from the Sonic the Hedgehog series. This series was created by Sega. He has only appeared in Brawl.

TabuuEdit

The final boss of Brawl's Subspace Emessary mode, Tabuu is notorious as one of the hardest bosses of any video game. He is not playable, nor does he appear in classic mode, and he has several attacks that can one hit KO an opponent that fails to dodge them.

Toon LinkEdit

Toon Link is a cel-shaded version of Link from The Legend of Zelda series. His moves differ slightly from the "normal" Link's. He appears as a playable character in Brawl.

WarioEdit

Wario is a recurring character from the Mario series. He only makes small cameos in the first two Smash Bros. games, but is a playable character in Brawl.

Wolf O'DonnellEdit

Wolf O'Donnell is a character from the Star Fox series and he's the leader of the Star Wolf Team, the rival of Star Fox Team. He is considered both villain and an anti-hero, depending on the game. He appears as a playable character in Brawl.

YoshiEdit

Yoshi is a major character from the Mario series, and a protagonist from his own Yoshi series. He has an ability to turn whatever he swallows using his long tongue into an egg. He appears as a default playable character in every three Smash Bros. games.

Young LinkEdit

Young Link is a younger depiction of Link from The Legend of Zelda series. He is a clone character of Link, and appears as a playable character in Melee, but does not return in Brawl (however Toon Link basically fills the same role).

Zero Suit SamusEdit

Zero Suit Samus is Samus Aran without her mighty Power Suit, in other words, with her Zero Suit. Zero Suit Samus appears in Brawl, as another form of Samus, not as a separate character.
