The SharpClaw are the games main enemy units in Star Fox Adventures, mainly as soldiers and servants of General Scales.

In the game

SharpClaw soldiers are the primary enemies that must be fought either for self defense or to complete a puzzle. Unless there is a Life-Force Door nearby or a certain event such as the Test of Combat, SharpClaw will eventually respawn after a while or if Fox leaves and area and returns. Combat with the SharpClaw is very simplistic, but Fox can execute then quickly by assigning Staff attacks to the Y button for chances of quicker defeat and can stun them by using Tricky's Flame Command. Using the Ice Blaster will freeze a SharpClaw leaving it vulnerable to a single hit.

SHARPCLAW - Members of General Scales' army

Soldiers in General Scales's army, the SharpClaws are single-minded. Their only goal is to ensure that their master's plan succeeds withouts a hitch. They are true fighters, built and bred for combat.

Forehand slash, backhand slash, head butt; larger guards use and overhead axe attack and a punch.

Block one of the attacks and move in with a quick combo. Continue to hit them after they fall. They are adept blockers so keep hacking away. Four unblocked Fire Blaster shots will do them in. Once you get the Ice blaster power-up, SharpClaws become more of a nuisance than a threat. Simply freeze and then shatter them with a single strike from your Staff.

Having trouble with a SharpClaw? Assume the guard stance and hold it. While you are blocking hits, order Tricky to perform his Flame Command. He will roast the SharpClaw and you won't suffer a scratch.

1. Mace: The most common Grunts are the basic yellow, spiked mace wielding type SharpClaws and will attack Fox on sight unless he is wearing his SharpClaw Disguise. They are orange with back stripes, while Snowtrooper soldiers that are found in the colder regions are wearing a blue skin.

2. Shield: Green or yellow Knights are the mid-sized SharpClaw who carry shields and axes and they usually come in a green color. SharpClaws that carry shields are more difficult in battle because of this extra defense. Fox will need to attack as soon as the SharpClaw drops its guard or uses Tricky's Flame Command. In the Volcano Force Point temple, Volcano guards wield shields and their skin color is olive green.

3. Giant: Brutes are the largest fightable SharpClaw, ivory pale in color, three times the size of the average grunt, and a massive axe wielder. The larger SharpClaw are more aggressive in battle and won't drop their guard so easily unless Fox attacks just after their forward charge or uses the Flame Command. One of these was guarding the passage to the Volcano Force Point Temple through Moon Mountain Pass and started throwing barrels down the mountain side after telling his comrade: "Wake up. Somebody coming".

4. Speeder: These SharpClaws drive speeders and race against Fox to the finish. In colder regions it is the blue SharpClaws that drive the speeders. They will drop explosive mines behind to try and slow Fox drown and can eventually be killed by continuously ramming into them.

5. The largest type of SharpClaw is the BribeClaw, about the same height as General Scales, but they are blue and much more obese. There are only two in the game, with one at SnowHorn Wastes and one at Cape Claw, with each demanding 25 scarabs to pass.
